The "A-Bomb Dome" was an industrial exhibition hall (built in a Western architectural style), constructed in the very early 1900's. It was about 600 yards from Ground Zero when the atomic bomb exploded.Peace Park was built after the bombing in WWII, and has since been filled with many monuments devoted to world peace. |

The entire island is a sort of sanctuary, with a unique torii (shinto gate) that appears to be floating in the sea when the tide is high. The island also boasts the oldest Noh stage in Japan. There are also hordes of deer who have become used to people. You can buy crackers to feed them, which explains their friendliness |
